How to Dual-Boot Windows 8 and Windows 8.1Preview

I think, can I dual-boot Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Preview so I can use Windows 8 again. The answer is yes. Below are the steps:

  1. Create a partition
    1. Go to Computer
    2. Click Manage at above, Computer ribbon, and System section
    3. Manage window will show up, click “Storage” at the “Name” section
    4. Click “Disk Management”
    5. Shrink one of your drive, by right clicking your drive and click “Shrink Volume”
    6. It’s up to you how many MBs (megabytes) you want to shrink. I shrink 75 GB
    7. There will be an “Unallocated” block, right-click it and click New Simple Volume
    8. Follow the instructions
    9. Name your drive
  2. Install Windows 8.1 Preview
    1. Download the .iso file
    2. After downloading, send the .iso file to your external drive. Instructions are provided on the download page
    3. After finish the step 2, go to the Advance Startup, by holding Shift + click Restart button
    4. It will lead you to advance startup
    5. Click “Troubleshoot”
    6. Click “Advance Option”
    7. Click “UEFI Firmware Settings”
    8. Go to boot section
    9. The default boot order is: 1st boot device: your hard drive, 2nd boot device: your external drive
    10. Switch your external drive to 1st boot device
    11. Save and exit
    12. It will reboot, follow the setup instructions
    13. It will reboot around 2 or 3 times
